NABS 2002 Convention in Penticton, British Columbia 6/13/02 - 6/16/02

The convention host for the 25th Anniversary of NABS was the Southern Interior Bluebird Trail Society.  The theme was "When The Blue Turns Silver".  The convention co-chair were Greg and Terry Teillier.  I must first congratulate Greg and Terry on an excellent convention and thank them for their hospitality as they  opened up their home on the day after the convention for another get together for those who helped at the convention and the for those who were staying behind an extra day or two.  Penticton is located in the Okanagan valley, just North of Spokane, Washington.

Speakers included:

bullet

Jeff & Sue Turner - Wildlife Filmaking

bullet

Sherri Klein - Birds of Prey & Wildlife Rehabilitation

bullet

Dick Cannings - A Natural History of British Columbia

bullet

Wayne Cambell - Cavity Nesters

bullet

John & Mary Theberge - Wolves in Canada

I didn't take many pictures at this convention but here is what I have:

The theme was right and the cake was good.  The bluebird could have been better

The town of Penticton, B.C. as you look down from top of one of the mountains on our Mountains & Desert Field Trip.  Yes there is a desert in Canada and we were in it.  The pictures to the right is of Sherry Linn and one her nestboxes with mountain bluebirds at the nature center at the Osoyoos Desert.

Of course as a newly elected director for NABS I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with some really great bluebirders.

Sunday morning was spent on a side trip to some nearby wetlands.

On to Kearney Nebraska for NABS 2003
