There are three different drawings Figure 2 is the method I like and use, it works on every pole/tree/ metal pipe ETC. Figure 1 is the method that Harry Krueger used on his nestboxes with 1/2" pipe mounting poles it is probably the most effective at stopping the highest percentage of snakes per attempt. Figure 3 (Harry Krueger was an artist) of a snake that went up a four inch PVC pipe, over a sheet metal raccoon guard and was trapped in the mesh net just under the box. It includes all dimensions so you can see how hard it is to stop snakes with PVC, sheet metal guards or other things we think are predator proof! Keith.
