X-WR-CALDESC:UPDATE: Registration is now closed. Conor says there is no ice
left on the lake so waterfowl including mergansers\, goldeneye\, and othe
r duck species are spread out in groups around the lake. We’ll also be loo
king for songbirds like bluebirds and winter sparrows that are active arou
nd the shore.\n\nGet ready for a birding treat at 9 a.m. February 17\, at
Lake Manawa. Conor Gearin will share his extensive knowledge as he leads u
s to the best spots to watch waterfowl. We will observe waterfowl in the l
ake from a stationary spot on shore. This will likely include ducks congre
gating together in 'rafts' as well as solitary birds such as Goldeneye and
other diving ducks that we find foraging for fish away from the main grou
 p of birds.\nRegister here: https://audubon-omaha.org/.../field-trip-lake-
manawa/464074\n\nSpotting scopes are encouraged\, but binoculars will work
\, too! We will observe waterfowl in the lake from a stationary spot on sh
ore. This will likely include ducks congregating together in 'rafts' as we
ll as solitary birds such as goldeneye and other diving ducks that we find
foraging for fish away from the main group of birds. Overwintering Bald E
agles are also possible. Weather permitting and if the group has interest\
, we can add on a short walk on level dirt paths near the shore to look fo
r winter songbirds such as sparrows and finches.\n\nRegister early for thi
s educational outing. The best viewing location will be determined prior t
o the trip and emailed to all registered attendees.
