Field Trip to New Prairie
You are invited to join a field trip to ASO's new prairie acquisition led by Glenn Pollock on Saturday, August 11. The site is approximately 3 miles northwest of Blair. The cemetery prairie is the only known Missouri River Valley Loess Hills prairie in Nebraska. The site comprises 10 acres, is preserved in its natural state and named the Cuming City Cemetery and Nature Preserve. It was transferred from the Nature Conservancy to ASO on June 22 and will be renamed to reflect our ownership.
Parking is very limited at the site, off a blacktop road with ditches, steep grades and no shoulders. So meet us at the Blair Memorial Hospital parking lot at 9:30 am to car pool the remaining 2 miles to the prairie.
